This morning while browsing through our closet to gather clothes and other things that we hardly use to give away to Sgfreecycle, I saw the jackets! Ahhhhhhhhh!!!! They have molds again hu hu hu. I don’t know what to do. I read somewhere that amonia or vinegar might help but I’m afraid of ruining the jackets. Can anybody give me tips? I would appreciate it.

You should purchase a dehumidifier or put your jacket somewhere where there is constant air-conditioning. Definitely don’t wet the leather even with a moist cloth unless you plan to dry it immediately or your just making it easier for the mold to grow. Have never heard of the vinegar method but I would think that doing this might make your leather end up smelly. You know what, try MarthaStewart.com I’m quite sure that somewhere she has a solution for this. The woman is my guru.

People who are passing by Singapore should try extending their stopover and register at the tourism counter the terminal for a free tour sponsored by the Singapore Tourism Board. You have two choices, go to the city or to the beach. When we had a long stopover in Singapore on our journey from the Netherlands to the Philippines we selected the city tour and were impressed on how clean the city was and how multicultural it is. That was my first contact with Singapore.

If you choose the beach tour instead you will be brought to Sentosa island. We love this place and we became an islander since we visit the island frequently. What makes it such a good place to be?

Sentosa is a small island at the south of Singapore. You can go their by bus, car, cab, MRT and a monorail that connects a huge mall called Vivocity to the island.

There are many attractions on the island apart from the lovely and clean beaches, for people of all ages. The attractions that we most like are the underwater world, dolphin lagoon, a spectacular light show called “Songs of the Sea” (only in the evening), butterfly garden, animal shows, “Images of Singapore” showing the history and cultural aspects of Singapore, and the beautiful areas to wander around.

The underwater world is a unique and well-known oceanarium showcasing some 2500 marine life via a moving travelator with a tunnel. Something unique is the option to go into the oceanarium with diving gear and an instructor and swim with the sharks and other astonishing sea creatures, while you can be seen swimming by the people on the travelator. Brrrr… still need to gather my guts to do this one.

They have ice cream shops everywhere too!!! and that’s one of the things I love about this place.It’s such a great place to chill and relax.

There’s simply no time to get bored here!

It’s raining for a couple of days already.Watching the rain brings back some childhood memories. Wow! I feel like ancient saying that. I remember when I was a young girl , we were one big family. My aunts ,uncle and my mom all lived together in one roof because they were all just starting up. For my cousins and I, it was really fun because we had alot of playmates. When it rains we would beg our mothers to let us out and play in the rain. The good old days when we worry about nothing. We would make paper boats and throw it out on the street gutter and daydream that we are on the boat. When we finish playing in the rain we would drink our Milo chocolate milk and take a nap or play with Super Mario Brothers on the family computer.

Before there were online games, playstation and X box we had the Family computer. You just use arrow keys and the buttons a and b. The games were in a cassette looking container. Boy, I was good at that. I could get really serious when playing this games and really got hooked on it. I wonder if they still sell this ?

What games did you play when you were a kid?

Chocolates, it is my second love after my better half. I have this problem though that when I eat them I get gazillion pimples on my face and that’s not very pleasant. But that doesn’t stop me! I do eat them (if you call one pack of kitkat “in moderation” then i’m eating in moderation) once in awhile. There’s one that’s very special too me, It’s called ChocoNut, it’s a locally made chocolate from the Philippines. I ate them like crazy when I was young. I would ask my mama or papa for a few pesos and I would run to the store and buy them. Now, I love Cadbury’s but Toblerone is a bit too sweet for me. I love all kinds actually but too many too mention them all. I feel happy, good-humored and lightheaded when I eat them. And I have kept this addiction till now. I am not a quitter.

I didn’t know that there is such a thing as chocolate addiction but it is a fact that millions of children and adults alike are addicted to this amazingly yummy …heavenly thing. I did some research on how we Chocoholics can enjoy them in moderation.
Tips to Curb Chocolate Craving
If you can satisfy a chocolate craving with only two chocolate peanuts, then go for it. If you’re not so lucky like me:
Discover if the craving is emotional – there are all sorts of reasons why people crave foods. It can often be related to feelings of low self-esteem or depression. If you can identify your reasons, then try another approach to tackling the problem.
Incorporate small portions of chocolate into your usual diet, rather than restrict yourself. Moderation is the key. A research trial found that people who limited eating chocolate to within half an hour of eating a meal gradually weaned themselves off their craving.
If you are feeling bored and craving chocolate, go for a walk, run errands, call a friend or read a book. If you can take your mind off food for a short time, the craving may pass.
Make sure you always have healthy food nearby, so you can replace chocolate with fruit a few times a day. Eat an overall balanced diet, eat regularly to avoid hunger, and eat more slowly. When your blood sugar levels are stable, cravings are less likely to occur.
If you think it’s necessary, do not allow chocolate in the house. Ask friends and family not to buy you chocolate, or even not to eat it in front of you!
Finally, it is a good idea to increase your level of exercise, to burn off excess calories and increase your metabolic rate. Exercise also releases endorphins, which counteracts stress, anxiety and depression.

I used to be addicted to cloud9 when I was younger :=). Dark chocolates makes me giddy!

Anyway,Have you guys ever heard about bookmooching? It’s a great book community site where you could give books that you don’t need anymore to people all over the world and you may request books that you really want.

It’s such a great idea, don’t you think? It is very difficult for me to part with my stuff but I am maturing now,LOL. So I told myself I should learn to let go…so that’s exactly what I am doing now, getting rid of my stuff through Freecycle and putting some of the books I am ready to let go at bookmooch. I’m still waiting to find “The White Masai”. It’s such a great story.

Hmmm It’s Sunday and it seemed like a very short week. What have I accomplished this week ?? I don’t know.

Well, actually I have done alot of reading on all kinds of stuff. I also met up with my girlfriend Dianna at the beach for her daughter’s birthday(Which reminds me , i still need to send her the pictures I made). The weather was still nice then. It was sunny and we were roasting. I was actually planning to go on a short trip this weekend to Malaysia or Indonesia but the weather is so unpredictable. It’s been pouring so much we needed to reschedule our planned trip.I hope it stops raining soon.
I really want to go do some regional exploring.We are already living in Singapore for a year and yet we haven’t seen the neighboring countries. That’s not entirely true, we’ve been to KL last year but it was more of a business trip for Jules . He didn’t actually see the city.

Anyway, we did a bit of exploration here in Singapore. We revisited the Singapore Botanical Gardens last week and although this was our second visit, it still managed to impress us. There is still so much to see here, next on our list is the Mac Ritchie Reservoir ,the Bukit Timah Reservoir, The Chinese Gardens and The Mandai Orchid Garden. I read about about them awhile ago and we definitely should go there one of these days.

They love going to school but sometimes they cannot go to school because they have no notebooks and other items they need. Especially Judy Anne. She is 11 years old and is a very bright girl, as is her brother Erwin who is 7 years old. I contacted via Internet organizations that help children but they do not support yet children in Palawan. That’s why we started to look for other ways.

While researching, we came across a group called SgFreecycle in Singapore. SgFreecycle is an Internet site where one can offer excess items for free to people that are interested. You may also request items that you need and if somebody has it, they may contact you.
I started to use the site to get pre-loved children’s clothes for the tribe children. Surprisingly many people wanted to help. We were able to fill a box of one cubic meter of clothes and toys. We sent it via cargo to Palawan and distributed it in December last year when we went to visit our farms. Everybody was very excited when they received the clothes. They are pre-loved but to them it is like new!
We realized maybe we can help more children, not just the ones that we know of. I can probably collect books that children in Singapore do not use anymore. We contacted the headmaster of the public elementary school of Estrella Village and when he heard about our plan he was ecstatic. We pledged to adopt their school.

It is sad to say that the public schools in the Philippines are very poorly equipped. In rural areas most of the children have never even seen a book with colored images.

When we came back here in Singapore we went to work right away. We ordered some boxes from a shipping company and posted ads on SgFreecycle requesting pre-loved books, board games and learning materials. Quickly we got overwhelming response from many people willing to help. We had to limit the donations to school items only. We paid the cost of shipping the boxes, our part of the donation.
We hope that more people will follow this example. School education is the best tool to fight poverty. If you have books that your kids do not need anymore or can collect books and school items, send them to public schools in less privileged countries.
Adopt a school in less privileged countries – they really need your help.

Internet actually started in the late 50′s early 60′s and is perhaps one of the most outstanding innovation in field of communication in history of mankind.The main target of internet has always been for communication.And I must say it has excelled beyond the expectations.I am sure innovations are going on to make it faster, more reliable.Our earth has attained the form of a global village through the help of intenet.

In a fraction of second we can communicate with a person who is sitting in the other part of the world.There is so much messenger services in offering like chat and email,we could just chat with our loved ones wherever they are. That’s actually what my husband and I do whenever he’s on a trip,we chat and call via messenger…that’s by the way so much cheaper than calling.
